* Hari Antirasuah Antarabangsa 2023

Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International)

The declamation poetry and drama (dekan) titled ‘Corruption of Various Nations’ presented as part of the Anti-Corruption Poetry Appreciation program at the International Anti-Corruption Day Corruption Busters 2023 (HARA 2023) event held at the Karangraf Group successfully captured the attention of many.

            The dekan performance, presented by four students from the Wesley Methodist International School in Kuala Lumpur, conveyed an anti-corruption message in various languages, reflecting the diversity in the country.

            According to the Head of the Malay Language Department at the school, Drs Pandian, despite Malaysia being composed of various races and ethnicities, it is not an excuse for them not to stand together and unite in rejecting corruption.

            “Even though they (students) are from my school, we convey the anti-corruption message in four languages: Malay, Chinese, Tamil, and English.

           “So for me, awareness of corruption needs to start from an early stage (youth), especially among students, as the saying goes, ‘bend the bamboo while it is still a shoot.’ This performance proves that all Malaysians, regardless of race or ethnicity, reject such behavior,” he told Sinar Harian on Thursday.

The students involved are Kayla Ting, Luke Rafael Lopez, Audrina Foo Ya Han, and Bryan Goh Ze Ming.

             HARA 2023 is an initiative to provide anti-corruption education to the public through the collaboration of the #CorruptionBusters coalition, which took place over two days from December 13 to 14 at the Karangkraf Group Complex.

             Several special activities were provided, including exhibitions from various agencies such as SME Integrity Talk, Special Forums, Anti-Corruption Poetry Appreciation, Corruption Busters Compass, and Nation-Building Talks.
